Coffee (2024)
16mm SuperShot | Editor

"A first date gets awkward when an invitation for 'coffee' is taken a little too literally."

As the editor on this university film project, my role was to shape the narrative and find the comedy in the film's central misunderstanding. Working with 16mm footage, the challenge was to craft a story that was both funny and relatable, all within a tight two-minute runtime.

What this really means is, I was responsible for the pacing and rhythm that made the joke land. I carefully selected takes that best highlighted the girl's subtle anxiety and the guy's charming obliviousness. By controlling the timing of each cut, I built the scene's tension and dramatic irony, ensuring the audience was in on the secret long before the characters were. It was an exercise in precise storytelling, where every frame had to work to sell the awkward, funny heart of the film.
